The Maruti Baleno was the third best selling car in the Indian market in January 2018, with 17,770 units being dispatched to dealers.
The Baleno's closest competitor, the Hyundai Elite i20, was in the eight spot, recording 9,650 units.
The Baleno is available with a 1.2-litre petrol and a 1.3-litre diesel engine. Mated to both is a 5-speed manual transmission with the petrol getting the option for a CVT automatic. Prices for the Baleno start from Rs 5.3 lakh for the Sigma petrol and go up to Rs 8.49 for the Alpha diesel.
Hyundai Elite i20 Petrol Asta Dual Tone is the mid petrol variant in the Elite i20 lineup and is priced at Rs. 7.37 lakh (ex-showroom, Surat). This base variant comes with an engine putting out 81.86bhp@6000rpm and 114.73nm@4000rpm of max power and max torque respectively. The gasoline motor comes mated to 5 Speed Manual transmission which is quite a joy to use. Hyundai claims an average of 18.6 kmpl for this mid Petrol Asta Dual Tone variant and with the healthy ground clearance of 170mm.
